Melasma Treatment with Picosure Pro in Lone Tree, CO

Melasma is one of the most complex and frustrating skin conditions to treat—and using the wrong approach can actually make it worse.

At Sorella Med Spa, we specialize in advanced, heat-safe melasma treatment using the PicoSure Pro laser. Our approach is carefully customized to break up pigment while protecting your skin from the triggers that often cause melasma to return.

If you’ve tried treatments before without success, you’re not alone—and you’re not out of options.

WHAT IS MELASMA?

Melasma is a common skin condition characterized by the formation of brown or gray-brown patches, primarily on the face. It occurs due to an overproduction of melanin, the pigment responsible for skin color. Melasma is often triggered by hormonal changes, sun exposure, and genetic factors, making it especially prevalent in women, particularly during pregnancy or while using birth control pills.

Unlike sun spots, melasma lives deeper in the skin and is highly reactive, which is why is requires a more advanced and strategic approach. Affected areas typically include the cheeks, forehead, nose, and upper lip.

Because the PicoSure Pro uses pressure to break up dermal pigment and NOT HEAT, it was the FIRST & ONLY FDA APPROVED laser to treat melasma in all skin types.

Why Many Treatments Fail Melasma

One of the biggest misconceptions is that all lasers help pigmentation.

In reality, many traditional lasers use heat, which can:

  • Trigger inflammation

  • Worsen melasma

  • Cause rebound pigmentation

This is why some patients feel like their melasma keeps coming back—or gets darker after treatment.

Why We Use PicoSure Pro for Melasma

The PicoSure Pro is different.

Instead of relying on heat, it uses ultra-short pulses of energy to shatter pigment safely and effectively.

This allows us to:

  • Target melasma without triggering excess heat

  • Treat deeper pigment more safely

  • Gradually brighten and even skin tone

  • Reduce risk of rebound pigmentation

At Sorella, we adjust every treatment based on your skin, your triggers, and how your melasma responds.

Is Melasma Permanent?

Melasma is considered a chronic condition—but it can absolutely be managed and significantly improved.

The key is:

  • Using the right technology

  • Avoiding heat triggers

  • Maintaining results with proper care

Our goal is not just to treat your melasma—but to help you keep it under control long-term.
